Document pertaining to Wilhelm Beissner, City Security Officer of the Gestapo in Tunis, follows his war time activities and pays special attention to his time in North Africa. During the war he cultivated many relationships in the region and ended up settling in Cairo after the war. The documents are part of the evidence gathered against him for war crimes

Far more than practical fighting value, these units served to boost the German cause in the minds of Arabs unsatisfied with life under the European colonial powers. Arab units also had a big effect in the propaganda war waged by the Nazi regime.

He destroyed most of his papers after being suspected of complicity in the July 20 plot. Many of the preserved papers in this file are candid letters from Rommel to his wife.
