Born in Czechoslovakia to a Chasidic family. Ran away and made aliya with "Bney Akiva". During WW-2 he served in the British Army. After the war he was one of the founders of Kfar Etzion and was captured by the Jordanians during the independence war. After the war he went to Nir Etzion. He describes his experience as a religious Jewish soldier in a British unit. He met Syrian, Egyptian and European Jews and supported them.
