“Strassburger Neueste Nachrichten”, 31.05.1943, p_65-67

These pages contain articles on Vichy´s armada in Alexandria joining the Anglo-Saxon Forces. Reports state that the soldiers haven’t got their loan in quite a long time because of the severe economic situation and lack of devises in Egypt. Italian sources claim that Anglo-Saxo Forces store equipment in Tunisian and Algerian ports, preparing to take over South Europe. Nevertheless, the Axis Powers still regard themselves as superior. The Japanese army moving further into China is also a topic that is mentioned.

The declaration of the British minister Attlees on Great Britain´s official war strategies is discussed, since the statement that the UK would not include civilian targets in its strategy, is vehemently disputed. Also, antisemitic agitation is spread by saying that an US-American journalist would “poison” international community by allegedly declaring the future of the “Weltjudentum”. An incident in Morocco is also mentioned, where Gaullistic and US-American Forces killed 50 Moroccans, who were suspected of sabotage after a train incident.

German war reporters state that the Soviet offence at the Taman peninsula has been successfully defeated. It is also said that the massacre of Katyn can be traced back to “Jewish-Soviet Forces”. The East-Front is a predominant topic, but the situation in Central China and the state of South American countries, which are told to be under a “Jewish-Soviet” impact as well, come up as well.

According to German sources, the successes in the war in North Africa have been over 120.000 war captives, among them 18 generals, 50.000 soldiers of the Anglo-Saxo Forces are considered dead. Apart from that, the article focusses on the chronic of the mission and regards it as a proof for the “great bravery” of German and Italian soldiers. The political situation in Iran is also mentioned, just as 9 Tschungking-divisions being destroyed.

The files contain information about the state of the Tunisian population and its anger about British measures which try to pull the Bey of Tunis out of office. With the Anglo-Saxon forces taking over Tunisia, the anti-Jewish legislation disappears, just as signs like “Jews are not allowed to enter” have vanished from the streets. It is told that many places still don’t welcome Jewish customers though. A French-Jewish Newspaper has been published in Tunisia again.

The files contain articles on the region of Elsass and its contribution to the war, how Giraud wants to remove the Bey of Tunis from his office, which is connected to “Jewish anti-Arab” policies. Italian volunteers in Tunisia have to face war courts and these measures are also drawn back to Jewish “Forces”, which are barely described. There is one articles featured which focusses on the socialist politician Alexandra Kollontai and stylizes her to a threat of the nation.

The files contain reports on over 3.000 Anglo-Saxon airplanes being shot down within the last 3 months, the US-American military fighting German marine at Germany´s coast, the last funk messages coming from German war reporters stationed in Tunisia before the withdrawal. A statement of Japan´s headquarters considers the war in North Africa a great success, as Germany is “stronger than ever”. An article talks about Jewish investors in the USA, which portrayed as “hostile forces” trying to undermine the financial system.
