War Time Economy: finance and repayment between British and North Africans
Description
War Documents located at Imperial War Museum Archives, Dept of Documents, Lambeth Road, London
Various primary documents detailing some of the interactions between the British government in North Africa and members of the local Arab communities. In one document, a local sheikh hosted 80 British troops, while a second document marks the lease of one camel from the British for the purposes of servicing escaped P.O.W.'s. The documents would presumably imply repayment for services rendered, hence their documentation in the manner of a bill of goods.
