Description
December 1940 – January 1941 – Exchange of letters between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Justice, the Prefecture of Police in Paris and the Resident General in Rabat, concerning the cases of individuals who have requested to receive or retain French nationality.
– The instructions relating to the suspension of naturalizations must be applied to the case of French Muslims from Algeria.
– Formalities to be completed to obtain the “Protégé Français” (French under protection) card.
– Search for the naturalization decree of a deceased person of Tunisian origin (Lalou Brami) in order « to examine the merits of the request presented by the heirs for the purpose of obtaining the maintenance of their family allowances ».
– Examination of the request of a financial journalist based in Mogador who « declared having obtained French nationality ex officio for having requested to contract in the French army an engagement for the duration of the hostilities ».
– Refusal to grant French nationality to Ms. Hassiba Mouyal by virtue of her marriage to Mr. Guithon.
– Examination of the request of Mr François Bauer, established in Safi, naturalized in 1930, to keep the nationality because of the job he holds and of his family responsibilities, and « he argues, moreover, of his feelings very french and for his loyalty to the policy followed by the Government of Marshal Pétain ».
– Refusal to keep the nationality of Mrs. Azoulay Simy, Mestre’s first wife, who « had become French under the terms of article 12 of the Civil Code which provided : « The foreigner woman who has married a Frenchman will follow her husband’s conditions » after her second marriage ».
