Changements de nationalité par mariage au Maroc, Rabat – Paris 07/06/1940.
Description
June 7, 1940 – General Noguès, Commander-in-Chief in North Africa and Resident General of France in Rabat writes to the President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs in Paris to inform him of a judgment of the Court of Appeal of Rabat dated December 9, 1939 authorizing a Frenchwoman by birth (Ms. Allota née Laugier) to retain her nationality after her marriage to an Italian. He informed him that in similar cases for which the opinion of the Résidence Générale was requested, the latter referred to the law of August 10, 1927 which, except in special cases, did not allow the retention of French nationality following a marriage to a foreigner. In conclusion, he considers that, unless otherwise advised by the President or the Minister of Justice, « the Administration of the Protectorate will henceforth have to respond, each time it receives requests for information relating to nationality, according to the doctrine inaugurated by the Court of Rabat ».
