His mother family came from
Poland and immigrated to Switzerland. His father is from Marrakesh.
They met at a vacation in Vichy; the parents got married and lived in Basel.

His family was "light orthodox", founded a synagogue for east European Jews in Basel. – also talk about the holydays and Sabbath in his house.
After Hitler came to power his father helped German and later on Austrian Jews to get in Switzerland and until they could get visa to other countries.
After the war broke out and Hitler attacked Belgium and Holland they thought he might attack Switzerland as well so they moved to Casablanca in 1940.
Talks about the war in Casablanca. 
Don’t think of himself as a holocaust survivor or as a person who was in the holocaust. Instead he use the phrase: " living by the holocaust"
