February 1942 – Exchanges of letters between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Justice, and the Resident General in Rabat, concerning the cases of individuals who have requested to receive or retain French nationality.

On February 4, the Resident General in Rabat wrote to the Minister of Foreign Affairs his remarks on a bill aimed at « determining in Algeria the status of French indigenous Muslims (Tunisians and Moroccans) who acquire French nationality, and the rights of French people who do not have French nationality by origin and those of naturalized foreigners », and ask him to communicate them to the Minister of Justice.

An undated note recapitulates the « Laws on French nationality in Morocco ». The decrees and laws of April 29, 1920, November 8, 1921, January 25, 1934 and December 20, 1933 are cited.

On February 7, the Minister of Foreign Affairs wrote to the Minister of Justice to send him « telegram n° 12.245 Pol (with its two annexes) that I sent on July 12 to our Resident General in Rabat concerning the requests for acquisition of French nationality formulated by North African Jews women married to a French ». Note that the attachments are not in the file.

On February 10, the Minister of Foreign Affairs wrote to the Minister of Justice to ask him « if it is not necessary to decide, by a particular text, that an individual born abroad of a foreign father and of  a mother who remained French after her marriage is French, if, at the time of the birth of the person concerned, the father was serving under the flags of France and the parents residence abroad was attributable only to a decision of military authorities ».
