Description
Granting of traffic facilities for the employees of the Compagnie des Messageries Maritimes – Vichy – 03 -15/10/1940
October 3, 1940 – The Compagnie des Messageries Maritimes requests from the Minister of the Interior the granting of traffic facilities in favor of four of its navigation inspectors called to frequently visit a number of ports in the French Empire, Casablanca, Safi, Oran, Bizerte, Algiers, Bône, Beirut and Dakar. She mentioned the difficulties posed to her by stopping communications following the application of the armistices and the « very harsh » regime to which her ships requisitioned by the French Navy were subjected. They require very serious checks on the condition of their hulls, engines and other fittings in particular.
October 15, 1940 – The Minister of the Interior transmits the CMM’s request to the Minister of Foreign Affairs – and gives his favorable opinion – for the granting of « special traffic facilities » to the inspectors of the Company.
