November 21, 1936, Departmental Security Intendant, Bône – The report indicates that a theatrical performance given on November 18 and 19 at the Municipal Theater by the Egyptian troupe BEBA AZZEDINE brought together some 650 spectators « among which around thirty Israelites ». At the end of the performance about 15 actors returned to the stage, brandishing a saber, and sang an Egyptian nationalist song in Arabic which proclaimed that Egypt had gained independence through its arms and wished all Muslims to follow its example.
