Description

This letter addressed to the Governor-General of Algeria by the Prefect of Oran concerns events linked to a resumption of anti-Semitism in the city of Oran. Swastikas and anti-Semitic inscriptions are painted on the walls of the synagogue and several Israelite shops, people are injured.

A hostile demonstration against the mayor of Oran M. Lambert took place. This one received a kick.

The first order of measures has been applied to avoid any incident: patrols of gendarmes, mobile guards, and police officers are responsible for ensuring the security of the main arteries of the city at the end of the day. These measures will be reinforced to avoid friction which “could occur between members of political parties”.
