Undated report on assistance given to Jewish soldiers and internees in North Africa during the war
Description
During the war, until the armistice, parcels were sent to French Jewish soldiers by the Oeuvre d’Entr’Aide and by the Eclaireurs Israélites de France (EIF). These soldiers, about 3,000, were interned in Morocco and Algeria. Assistance was provided to them by the Committee for Aid and Assistance to Refugees (CAR) with the assistance of the American Joint Distribution Committee. After the landings, the British and the National Liberation Committee (CNL) canvassed to free the internees. Some have been able to find work
