Private Papers of H H Kassman – Letter from Kassman to Viviane, March 12, 1943
Description
Page 11: Letter to Viviane. Viviane has had mumps. Army life, questions about Eric’s foreign service [mutual family friend, Eric Bensinger, eventually determined to have been killed in action], seemingly in or near North Africa (same continent). Alec was “very ill”, currently awaiting discharge in South Africa and trying to find work in Johannesburg so as to stay there (see previous letter and following letter). Kassman is still being paid by his firm and thus feels he cannot attempt to settle elsewhere himself, despite being tempted by Australia and New Zealand. Gift for Viviane.
