Page 15: Letter to mother. Mail, Labrador dog traveling with Kassman’s Battery (seemingly for some time now) [see photograph]. Some discussion of Alec (brother) – Kassman’s knowledge and views on Alec’s health, job prospects, whether he should settle in South Africa or England. [See earlier letters in March for context/more details.] They just heard of the smashing of the Mareth Line [see explanation and newspaper article on pages 17 and 18, detailed below] “and everyone is very delighted.” Their last couple months have been very peaceful. Army life (film, theater).
