Rapport journalier sur les répercussions du Décret abrogeant le Décret Crémieux, Bône, 9 octobre 1940
Description
News of the decree was well received in right-wing circles; in left-wing circles, we deplore a measure that is contrary to the principles of humanity. In the indigenous population, the decree was welcomed with “strong satisfaction”, some wish that the measure would go further, by imposing on the Jews the wearing of their old costume, etc. Among the Israelites, this news caused a breakdown, mixed with bitterness and anger. Some stores remained closed as a sign of mourning.
