Description

This report indicates that one of the defenders of the Jewish merchants, charged with unlawful increase and referred to the Tribunal of Lyons, allegedly informed the friends of the Jews that the indictment could have provoked an indigenous uprising. The Jews of Algiers therefore thought of circulating a petition in Muslim circles to prove that the relations between the Jews and the natives were excellent.
