Note au sujet des fêtes de famille, Alger, 7 octobre 1942
Description
Family celebrations (circumcisions, weddings) were numerous this year, especially in Blida, Algiers, Médée, etc. This report points out the excessive expenditure (in particular the custom of the “taoussa”: each participant in the celebration gives a sum of money) for these celebrations of certain families, which lead to a waste of foodstuffs for the community. Many Muslims suggest curbing these expenses by limiting the number and duration of parties.
