Rapport du Commandant militaire Nabal au Gouverneur général de l’Algérie au sujet d’une section locale du Betar, Alger, 21 décembre 1944
Description
This report gives an account of the creation in Colomb-Béchar of a local section of the Federation of Jewish Scouts of Algeria affiliated with Betar. Thanks to Sergeant Yvan Cohen Alloro, assigned to the Telecommunications Service, Betar’s propaganda made rapid progress. The report gives several information on Sergeant Cohen (born in Tunisia, in Sfax, domiciled in Algiers, exercising before his mobilization the profession of radio) and on the Betar organization (has 90 members of the Bécharois Israelite milieu composed mainly of Tafilalian families quite backward and living in native fashion). Sergeant Cohen opened an executive school with boys and girls and began teaching them Hebrew. The Society officially participates in many events: religious festivals, charity show. The children learned the Song of Betar, the translation of which is annexed to the report.
