The muphti of Oran Bouaidjra informs in this letter the prefect, that a Frenchman aged 60 accompanied by a Muslim, came to the Great Mosque on June 15. The European declared through his Muslim translator: “After having seen the presidents of the Christian and Hebrew cults, I come to visit you with the aim of seeking to unify the call and to consolidate the bonds of all the religious congregations […] “
