Extrait du compte rendu sur le statut des Juifs, Constantine, 23 octobre 1940
Description
This document describes the plight of Jews, many of whom would liquidate their stores, especially food stores, and put their money to safety. They would buy gold (mainly jewelry). Much of this gold is smuggled to England, according to the report, to be used in the victory of those they see as their future saviors. The Communist Party would continue its activities thanks to the Jewish fund. “The Jews would go so far as to inform the natives about the rights of certain civil servants and how to cause them trouble by complaints relating to facts qualified as illegal and arbitrary.”
