This report provides a general overview of February 1949 on political activity in Constantine and on the many external events which interest Muslim circles.

The recognition “de facto” of the State of Israel by France, did not raise any notable reaction among the Muslim circles.

Departures of Jews for Palestine have been recorded. Several families from the Southern Territories and Biskra, left the country in the direction of Algiers, to embark for Palestine. In the region of El-Oued and Guémar, the number of people who left is estimated at 40% of the total Jewish population.
