Description

This report provides a general overview of February 1948 on political activity in Constantine and on the many external events which interest Muslim circles.

The Israelites are cautious following the dissemination of the UN decision on the partition of Palestine.

In Philippeville, bulletins of papers with the mention “We must leave Algeria in 5 months Death to the Jews – signed PPA” were slipped under the doors of some Israelite stores.

In Akbou, the Israelite owner of the cinema, having been suspected of sending part of his revenues to the Jews of Palestine, saw his establishment boycotted by the nationalist groups, the Ulemas, the PCA. They reconsidered their decision only after having obtained from the owner the affirmation that the receipts realized by him would not benefit in any way to his fellow believers in Palestine.

The second session of the World Jewish Congress will finally be held in May.
