Rapport mensuel sur l’activité indigène dans le Département d’Alger, octobre 1938
Description
This report provides an overview of October 1938 on the political activity of elected Muslim officials, reformist ulama, the Algerian People’s Party, etc. We can also read the information on the youth of the Algerian Muslim Congress, the action of the European parties on the Natives, the native workers, the economic question, etc.
Algerian doesn’t take part in the Arab Interdepartmental Congress for the Defense of Palestine which was held in Cairo. The decisions of Congress – the Balfour declaration considered null and void, immediate cessation of Jewish immigration, […] – met the unanimous approval of the Algerian political parties, including that of the Communists, the latter advocating, however, Union of Muslims, Christians and Jews of Palestine against Zionism and British Imperialism. Several Muslim newspapers in Algiers demand that France intervene to end the conflict.
Relations between Muslims and Jews remain correct. However, anti-Jewish leaflets were reportedly distributed in the towns of Guyotville and Saint-Eugène.
