Description

This report provides an overview of February 1942 on the political activity of elected Muslim officials, reformist ulama, the Algerian People’s Party, etc. We can also read the information on the youth of the Algerian Muslim Congress, the action of the European parties on the Natives, the native workers, the economic question, etc.

The report deals with the new legislation concerning the status of Jews, their citizenship, the numerus clausus, and the issue of schooling for Jewish children expelled from schools.

A General Union of the Israelites of Algeria will represent the Jews before the Public Powers. All the Jews of Algeria will be obligatorily affiliated to it.

36 Algerian Jewish wholesalers are prosecuted for illegal speculation and coalition.

Most of the natives are satisfied with the measures taken against the Jews. Certain Muslims like D. Bendjelloul, who writes an article in the “Entente”, against the numerus clausus in the medical professions, express opposing opinions.
