Description

This report provides an overview of August 1941 on the political activity of elected Muslim officials, reformist ulama, the Algerian People’s Party, etc. We can also read the information on the youth of the Algerian Muslim Congress, the action of the European parties on the Natives, the native workers, the economic question, etc.

The census of Jews will take place from September 1 to 10. A Jewish Questions Service has been created in the General Government, with a view to applying the Statute of Jews in Algeria. Mr. Xavier Vallat, Commissioner for Jewish Questions made an information trip to North Africa.

Numerus clausus will affect a large number of Jewish students.

The Jews reacted with acts of Gaullist and Anglophile propaganda.

A split occurred within the Eclaireurs Israélites de France (the scouts), whose President is D. Kanoui. Some dissident elements accuse the Eclaireurs Israélites de France of collaborating with non-Jews in the field of Education and Sports. These dissidents went to strengthen the Federation of Eclaireurs Juifs of Algeria, which is attached to the Beitar organization, of which President Cohen Aloro Yvan has the slogan: “The Jews have nothing to expect from other peoples”.
