Rapport sur la situation politique et économique de la commune mixte de Jemmapes, le 10 juillet 1940
Description
This report shows the concern of the European population after the signing of the Armistice, about the position of France in the world and the future of North Africa. He also mentions the events of Mers El Kébir which caused a strong impression and many critics. “The act committed by the English is harshly qualified”. The report notes the existence of two currents, born of conversations in the street and in cafes. The first current wishes for the continuation of Franco-English relations and is convinced that England is likely to win the war. The second current reproaches Britain for its unpreparedness for war. The economic situation is good.
