During the 1930s, his editorial line went to the extreme right, becoming a collaborationist under Vichy. He was banned from publication at the Liberation.

The following article is the report of a special correspondent of the newspaper in Algiers describing the political, economic and social situation of Algeria.

In this article, the journalist analyzes the tension that has existed for six months in Algeria and reviews the riots of Constantine in August 1934, which he denounces as proof of several related problems: Muslim anti-Semitism, the jews new status after the Crémieux decree, the french politic…

During the summer of 1934, Constantine was the scene of strong tensions between the Jewish and Muslim communities. This conflict culminates in the events of August 5, anti-Jewish riots erupt against a backdrop of economic crisis, Muslim nationalist demands and antisemitic press campaigns. The police and the army are slow to intervene and restore order. The balance, not to mention the looting and destruction, is 23 dead and more than 80 wounded.
