Description

Le Matin is a French daily newspaper created in 1883 and disappeared in 1944.

During the 1930s, his editorial line went to the extreme right, becoming a collaborationist under Vichy. He was banned from publication at the Liberation.

The following article is the report of a special correspondent of the newspaper in Algiers describing the political, economic and social situation of Algeria.

Sent by telegram, this report speaks of the state of mind of local and European, denounces the loss of authority of France, the weakness of its leaders, fears the rise of Algerian nationalism and puts all this on the account of the French referee policy between peoples rather than unifying.
