Private Papers of H H Kassman – Photograph, Letter from Kassman to Viviane, July 22, 1942
Description
Page 10: Photograph: “At the camp in Heliopolis 7/42”
Page 10: Letter to Viviane. Details of gifts sent back and forth, including a mention that cigarettes are rationed in England but not in Egypt. Censorship of letters. Kassman’s preferences on types of stations; currently at a Base gun site and very bored. Applied to a job in Intelligence expecting nothing to come of it. Viviane works in an Aircraft factory and applied to the VAD (Voluntary Aid Detachment, a British civilian volunteer unit doing nursing work for military personnel) (Kassman asks if she’s in it yet). [see pages 14-15 for more on Viviane and the VAD.]
