Report on anti-Semitism, Batna, December 12, 1940
Description
This report indicates several information:
1/ No anti-Semitic demonstrations have occurred during the past month.
2/ The abrogation of the Crémieux decree was welcomed with satisfaction by the European and indigenous populations and with an exaggerated externalization.
3/ No hostile and dangerous remarks are to be reported with regard to the Jews.
4/ Faced with their political decline, the Jews showed themselves to be indifferent. They even voluntarily withdraw from public life (They refrained from visiting military cemeteries, even the Jewish cemetery).
