Page 14: Letter from Kassman to mother. Discussion of mail; none has arrived for over a month. Soldiers are considering making a magazine, for amusement and as a souvenir. Difficult for Kassman to muster much enthusiasm about anything nowadays.

Kassman and Alec (brother) found her new husband’s letter “very charming”.

Mention of fruits available – no more grapes and green figs, but now prickly pears. They are not very popular due to the spines, despite the good taste. Asks if Chester has had any more weekend leave, since going by the last letter he hadn’t had any for two weeks.

3/4 page, typed. Dated August 28, 1941.
