Photographs and a Field Service post card from Gunner H. Henry Kassman to his mother, from within a file of his correspondence between 1941-1943 compiled by his daughter in 2010. File’s contents are primarily typed letters and other correspondence, occasionally reproduced (often in addition to the typed version), and also include photographs, diary entries from Kenneth Rankin’s book Top-Hats in Tobruk, some other written materials, and some explanatory material. Page 9: Reproduced Field Service post card sent to Mrs. R. Kassman in London (full address is visible). This is Henry Kassman’s mother, Rebecca Kassman (née Goldman). The other side of the post card contains a form letter where unneeded sentences can be crossed out and the only things allowed to be written in addition are the date and signature (in this case 15/1/41 and Henry Kassman). The sentences not crossed out read: “I am quite well. I hope to be discharged soon. Letter follows at first opportunity.”
