Description

This report gives an overview of May 1949 on political activity in Oran. He is also interested in the “Israelite question”.

Israel’s diplomatic activity is little followed by the Muslim masses. Only the Israelite communities of certain cities are interested in it.

Israel’s admission to the UN has elicited no comment in Muslim circles. This admission was pronounced by 37 votes against 12 and 9 abstentions.

During a meeting of the UN Special Political Commission, Mr. Aubry Aban, representative of Israel, declared that his government supported the establishment for Jerusalem of an international regime which will deal exclusively with control and the protection of the Holy Places.

Following the events of Mascara, certain rumors were spread according to which the legionaries authors of the disorders, committed in the Muslim quarter of Bab-Ali were committed of German Jewish origin. The local Israelites feared reprisals against them from the Muslims for a few days.
